We are absolutely heartbroken to tell you that our twins have passed away. At 16 weeks’ gestation, I went into preterm labor on Wednesday at about 2pm. After about 16 hours of labor, our daughter, Abernathy, was born at 5:52am on Thursday, April 10 in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. About two and a half hours later, our son, Malachi, was born at 8:28am. Both babies were born sleeping, although we had seen them alive and moving via ultrasound only hours before. They were simply too young and too small to survive outside my body. Both babies looked absolutely perfect, and were the most beautiful human beings we had ever seen. We got to hold both of them, immediately after each of their deliveries and many times after that, to take photos with them, and to touch them and tell them how amazing they were, how much we love them and will never, ever forget them.
I was kept in the hospital for three days after that. I developed a serious infection and had lost a dangerous amount of blood. I narrowly avoided a blood transfusion and with the help of strong iron supplementation, I should be good as new in a few months, physically anyway. Emotionally, we know we can never heal from the loss of Abernathy and Malachi, our beautiful and amazing children, but we will remember them always, and always carry them with us in our hearts.

Reba, I am so sorry... I have been so worried since it had been so long since we heard from you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I can't even imagine what you are going through.
